Be Rettenwender
I have lived in Germany, France, Spain and Ireland, as well as Virginia and Massachusetts. Born in Germany to an American mother and an Austrian father, I first came to the United States to live when I was in 8thgrade.
In 1992, I graduated from Smith College in Massachusetts and joined Teach for America. TFA placed me in a fifth grade class in East LA. I have lived in California for these last 20 years. My German culture gives me a strict no nonsense attitude to education which I combine with creativity, self expression for the students and a love of learning. I speak English, German, French and Spanish and believe strongly that our lives are enriched by diversity and multiculturalism.
I also have a master’s degree in comparative religion. I love theatre, animals and young people. I feel very lucky to have a job that I love, working with the amazing students at our school. I live in Rio del Mar with my husband and son.
